Bayer AG is one of the largest multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in the world with a more than 150-year history.

The problem

Bayer had multiple systems in place for handling Regulatory, Safety and Quality documents. There was no connection between the systems. Users had to learn multiple systems to do their work.

The Solution

Bayer initially implemented CARA for 500 users for Regulatory Correspondence Management, and following the success of the system, moved on to implement 3 systems for global regulations / SOPs anagement, as well as a global Regulatory Submissions Documents system. This was then followed by a system for archiving (in Consumer Health) and one for PV case content management, integrated with ARGUS.

The Benefits

Having all the systems using the same CARA platform provided major cost savings, as well as streamlining the in-house infrastructure and support team requirements. End users had the major benefit of a consistent user interface for multiple systems, which therefore required less training.

Bayer is currently working on moving to the CARA Cloud to further streamline their systems and environment, and increasing user numbers by another 32,000. This move would provide significant additional cost savings.
